Congratulations!!! You made it! You’ve spent the last 50 days hustling towards your goal. Let that sink in for a minute.
Many have started the challenge but you are one of the very few to see it all the way through. No matter how much progress you made on your goal – just getting to the end of this, that’s a win right there!
So how do you feel right now? At the start of this challenge I asked you to write down how you wanted to feel on day 50. Does the reality match up with the vision? If yes, that’s brilliant! You’ve taken on board the entire mindset of the challenge. If not, why not? Can you learn from the past 50 days and take that with you into the future?
So what’s next?
The last task of the challenge is to think about the next 50 days. I want you to write down what you want to do in the next 50 days. You’ve worked hard on developing habits over the challenge. It would be a shame to toss them to one side. Maybe you’re not going to hustle as hard as the past few weeks but you should still have ambitions for the next couple of months.
The 50 days passed by in a flash. So will the next 50 days. And the 50 days after that. Don’t let life pass you by. It can be so easy to watch another episode on Netflix or stay in bed for a couple of hours at the weekend. But what are you missing? An amazing opportunity? A chance encounter? A fantastic event? Make yourself get out and experience the best in life. Will watching another rerun of Parks and Recreation really be the best moment of your life? No but you’ll remember the chances you took to follow your dreams and goals.
So take a rest for a couple of days and regroup. What is the next goal? Where is it taking you? How can you achieve it? Take everything you learnt from the past 50 days about yourself and apply it to the next dream.
So what’s stopping you – go forth and achieve your goals!
As we approach the final day of the challenge, I want to leave you with some lingering thoughts.
For so many of us when we think about our wildest goals and ambitions – we can be paralysed by fear. We can think we’re not worthy or capable of working towards our dreams.
If you have a passion that you love and you want to become great at it than you need to go all in with it. You’ve just spent the past 49 days working on a goal. It doesn’t have to stop now. Use that passion you have for your goal, the intensity you’ve experienced as you worked hard on it – and bring it to the next level. If you hold back, don’t push yourself to achieving that dream – at the end of the day you are the only one who loses out.
Today I want you to go back over the past 50 days and really analyse how you worked on your goal. For some of you, you’ve made great progress and your goal is almost met. But for others – maybe you made little progress or your plans didn’t pan out as you would have hoped.
Today I want you to make a list of things that did work for you and items which you need to work on. If you know what strategies that work you can adapt these for your next goal to guaranteed success.
If you’re coming to the end of 50 days without much progress – don’t beat yourself up. Use this opportunity as something to learn from. What happened? Was the goal the right one? Was it too ambitious? Or was it so small that it didn’t excite your passion? Did you follow through with every days challenge? If not, why not?
Use any of the negative aspects of this challenge to grow from and become better next time. It’s only through trying that we learn.
Do you allocate enough time for tasks? Or do you say something will take an hour to complete when you will actually have it done in 5 minutes? Today we are going to look into time management.
If you tend to waste your time because of mismanagement of your day you need to start keeping a diary or using an app that will help you know what you need to be doing all day and where your time is being wasted. If you are a creative person, this might sound like hell. But even if you just do this for a week so you can identify where time mismanagement is occurring, it will help you complete tasks that you have either been putting off or unable to find the fit in.
Lost time is the biggest creativity killer because you will never be able to complete your work if you can’t find the time.
An app like the Pomodoro app will help you assign a certain amount of time to tasks and help guide your time to get things done. Or even just a reminder app will help you remember tasks you need to do through out the day. I like an app called Things which is basically a smart to do list. You move things into sections called Today, Next and Someday. What I like about this is that you can label tasks with things such as ‘high energy’ or ‘low energy’, so no matter how you are feeling you can find things to do. I’d highly recommend trying it out and seeing can you cut down on your lost time.
A jug fills drop by drop resonates with me on two levels.
On one level it reminds me that I have to have perseverance in my goals. My dreams and goals will only come true if I work on them each and every day.
The second level is that it reminds me that in order for me to get to my goal I have to focus on one thing every day that will help me reach my goal. If I write down every morning what is the one thing I want to achieve, I can get that one thing done.
So today I want you to write down the most important thing you can complete for your goal today and see it through. When you go to bed tonight you will have a serious sense of achievement and you can do it all again tomorrow.
A book I would highly recommend on the topic of focus is ‘One Thing‘ by Gary Keller. It really showcases the power of knuckling down and concentrating on one habit that will help your personal or work goals.
Today I want you to declutter the space around you. You may not realise it but clutter is distracting. If you are working at a desk and it is full of stuff, both important and meaningless, this will cause your brain angst. It will be much harder to focus, as your brain will become distracted by the items around you.
The same goes for if you workout at home. If your home gym is cluttered with items everywhere you will be less inclined to workout. Why? Because your mind will tell you it’s far too much of a hassle to clear everything up before you start to workout.
Even if that all sounds too much, I want you to spend 5 minutes deleting and sorting old emails. If you took 5 minutes everyday for a couple of weeks you could finally achieve ‘Inbox Zero‘. Which would help you keep in control of your work schedule every day.
If your mind is surrounded by clutter – it will eventually become cluttered and it will be next to impossible to focus on your goal.
A lot of people say that they never achieve their goals because no one believes in them. Well today I want to ask you a simple question:
Do you believe in yourself?
Sometimes when we are giving out about people not supporting us it’s because we are deflecting from the fact that we really don’t believe in ourselves. And the root of not believing in yourself stems from the fact that you don’t truly love yourself. This might seem like a strange statement to make but it’s true. If you fully loved yourself you would have a belief in yourself that would allow you to go on and take on anything.
Do you see how the effect of what we tell ourselves every day has?
Do you see how important it is to have love and belief in ourselves?
Today I want you to make a list of things that are amazing about you. I want you to fill an entire page! Don’t say you wouldn’t have enough things to write. You do!!! And I want you to regularly do this exercise until it becomes easy to do. Because when it is easy – you’ll finally have the belief in yourself that you deserve!
Some people can be completely consumed by anger. It can paralyse them entirely from taking positive action and working on a goal that will help them out of the funk they are in. They prefer to wallow in the negativity and anger, happy in the narrative that they tell anyone who listens all about the wrongs that they have to endure.
Sure things can happen that gives you the right to be angry. But if you continue to stay inside that anger you will be unable to create a better life for yourself. One that brings you joy and purpose.
If others describe you as an angry person, or you can identify it within yourself – maybe it’s time to tackle the pain that is causing the anger. I am very pro-therapy. Being able to talk to someone who is completely detached from your life story can really help you deal with things that are holding you back from your potential.
Today I want you to take 10-15 minutes and write down a list of things that cause you anger. Some might be silly little grievances and that’s fine. They can be dealt with fairly easily and may just require some self reflection. But if there are other bigger issues that you find are causing you to experience anger for a significant amount of time – maybe start looking into having a few sessions of therapy. It might only take a session or two for you to start working through the pain so why suffer any longer?
When we feel stressed or sad it can be so easy to slip into a funk. When things get hard or we feel fatigued, it can be so difficult to motivate ourselves for our goal.
Today I want you to look into the mirror and reaffirm that you feel glorious. It might seem silly and you might truly feel like the exact opposite but you need to feed your mind with the thoughts that you feel great in order to change it.
Maybe you had a tough day at work and the last thing you want to do is tell yourself that you feel glorious. But if you sit there and wallow, guess what you’re not going to work on your goal. Instead you’ll be at a pity party for one. And no good ideas ever originated from there.
So throughout the day remind yourself that you are glorious because- you truly are!
For a lot of people the reason they don’t succeed in their goals is because they don’t think they are worthy of success.
Take for example people who want to lose weight. Losing weight could be consuming their minds every day and they may really want to succeed but the little voice in their head doesn’t think they are worth it. It says: “But you always fail”, “who are you kidding do you really think you’ll find someone to love you when you’re less fat?”, “They are always going to give the job to the younger, fitter person so why bother trying?”
So though they desperately want to lose weight, their mental chatter is reaffirming that they are not worthy of amazing things.
Only when you open yourself up to the idea that you are worthy of great things and great things will happen. If you have a deep belief that your life will always be mediocre – then guess what? It will be!
So today, reaffirm to yourself that you are worthy of wonderful things.
