Day 40 – #50DaysMotivation

When we feel stressed or sad it can be so easy to slip into a funk. When things get hard or we feel fatigued, it can be so difficult to motivate ourselves for our goal.

I feel glorious

Today I want you to look into the mirror and reaffirm that you feel glorious. It might seem silly and you might truly feel like the exact opposite but you need to feed your mind with the thoughts that you feel great in order to change it.

Maybe you had a tough day at work and the last thing you want to do is tell yourself that you feel glorious. But if you sit there and wallow, guess what you’re not going to work on your goal. Instead you’ll be at a pity party for one. And no good ideas ever originated from there.

So throughout the day remind yourself that you are glorious because- you truly are!

Day 39 – #50DaysMotivation

For a lot of people the reason they don’t succeed in their goals is because they don’t think they are worthy of success.

Take for example people who want to lose weight. Losing weight could be consuming their minds every day and they may really want to succeed but the little voice in their head doesn’t think they are worth it. It says: “But you always fail”, “who are you kidding do you really think you’ll find someone to love you when you’re less fat?”, “They are always going to give the job to the younger, fitter person so why bother trying?”

So though they desperately want to lose weight, their mental chatter is reaffirming that they are not worthy of amazing things.

I am worthy of wonderful things

Only when you open yourself up to the idea that you are worthy of great things and great things will happen. If you have a deep belief that your life will always be mediocre – then guess what? It will be!

So today, reaffirm to yourself that you are worthy of wonderful things.

Day 38 – #50DaysMotivation

It can be easy for us to get caught up in regret. Maybe you feel you should have been working on your goal, years earlier. Maybe you constantly go over in your head how much time you have wasted. None of this is helpful when you are working in the here and now. If you spend all your time reliving the past – how can you succeed in the future?

Guilt can weigh us down. Maybe selfish actions we carried out in the past or mean things we said in the heat of the moment – live on in our mind and play on a loop whenever we have pause for thought.

If regrets from the past keep replaying in your mind and are stopping you from achieving your goal it is time to work on the mantra “Let go of guilt”.

Let go of guilt

By using this mantra we are telling the universe that we accept that we cannot change the past. And that we are going to concentrate on things that are going to empower us instead of thoughts that drain us.

Letting go of past guilt will fill you with a lightness and freedom, that it will now be impossible not to achieve your goals.

Day 37 – #50DaysMotivation

Yesterdays mantra was “I am Confident”. With confidence though has to come a certain level of modesty. No one wants to be around someone who constantly is boasting and has developed a major ego. We’ve all been around a person like that and usually can’t wait to get out of their company! So after you have worked on the confidence mantra, it’s time to say to yourself:

“I am Grounded”

I am grounded

When we begin to feel successes on our way towards our goal, it can be easy to get caught up in them and become complacent. By repeating to yourself that you are grounded, you are signalling to your brain that no matter how successful you are becoming you can see it is coming from your hard work and commitment.

By staying grounded you are not getting too caught up with the mental chatter in your mind. Instead you can see the goal and the work that needs to be done to get to it.

Being grounded also means that you are focused on the now – and that’s where all living takes place! It means that you are not taken up too much with questions like “what if” and “how dare they do that to me”, because these type of questions cause anxiety which is the deterrent to progress. So work on this mantra when you experience feelings of anxiety.

Day 36 – #50DaysMotivation

Self confidence – or lack of – is something everyone deals with. Some people may be able to portray themselves as oozing with it, but I guarantee they have to work on it. In order to achieve a goal you need to have a certain level of self-confidence. Why? Because you are the one that needs to work to make the goal happen and if you don’t believe in yourself – that goal isn’t going to happen.

If you are someone who needs to work on your self confidence (and who doesn’t??) I want you to look into the mirror today and say “I am confident” over and over for one minute. You will probably feel silly the first few times you do it, but know that you are working on your unconscious thoughts and slowly beginning to weaken the thoughts that say that you are shy or timid.

I am confident

You need to weaken this thought pattens because they are what has you thinking the way you do now. You are not confident because your mind told you so. Now you are fighting back with a brand new thought system that will take time to develop but you will get there if you persist. It can feel uncomfortable when you begin but it will slowly start to seep into your unconscious and begin to get easier.

Stick with and you will see results! Slowly you will see that in small situations you bring an air of confidence that you didn’t think you had before.

Day 35 – #50DaysMotivation

Welcome to the first of seven days that will help you develop a mantra that you can use though out your daily life that can help foster a greater understanding of yourself.

The best way to begin to develop a mantra is to write it down and put it somewhere you will see if often. Maybe on the lock-screen on your phone, or your bathroom mirror. Maybe on a post-it note on your work computer screen. Somewhere you will see it multiple times a day.

Todays mantra is “What is your why?”

What is your why?

This is a deep question to ask yourself, and probably not one you are going to be able to answer straight away. I want you to use this mantra as a way to question why you do what you do every day. If you feel that your life is lacking purpose this is an important question to ask yourself regularly. It’s only by querying yourself often that you will be able to attempt to answer this.

“What is your why” is an important mantra when you striving to achieve a goal. It’s important to know if the goal you are working towards is the right goal for you. Maybe as you delve deeper into this question, you will realise that maybe there is something else that is more important to work on, or maybe that you need a bigger goal. If after working on this mantra for a while you can’t come up with a “why” than maybe it’s time to change goals.

And if you do come up with answers – try to delve even deeper in them. Every answer we give leads to another question and sometimes we are afraid to go down that rabbit hole as we don’t know where it will take us. But you owe it to yourself to explore. If you don’t understand your mind – how can you work on it to get it to bring you where you want to go?

Day 34 – #50DaysMotivation

I’ve talked about the importance of getting up early and working on your goals. Today I want to talk about one of the best things you can incorporate into your morning routine – meditation and mindfulness.

I know when most people wake up, the natural reaction is to just hit snooze and turn over. I’m here to implore you to use that time to meditate. Even to begin with you don’t have to get out of bed, just grab your phone and a pair of headphone and pop them in while you’re still half asleep and press play on a guided meditation app like Headspace or Calm. Taking those 10 minutes in the morning, could completely change how you are going to tackle the day.

Meditate and unleash magic

Meditation has many benefits – it helps you deal with stress, increases creativity, you help develop your intuition and decreases tension in your body.

For the next week I am going to give you a set of mantras that I want you to use in conjunction with daily meditation. Mantras are a great way for improving your confidence in yourself as well as helping develop a belief in what you are capable of.

So come back tomorrow to follow our mantra series!

Day 33 – #50DaysMotivation

As you work towards your goal, hopefully you should be seeing some small successes. As we’ve spoken about before it is important to break down your goals into smaller pieces so that you regularly have wins that help you carry your motivation through to the end of the goal.

The people around you may have started to notice these successes. Most will likely be happy for you, maybe even proud as you strive to reach your goal. However there will be people who will not be happy for you. They maybe jealous of how you are making your dreams a reality. They might be envious that you suddenly have this purpose in your life and they are squandering their time. They maybe be anxious that you are becoming a new successful person and feel threatened by this. Whatever it is, there will be haters.

I often think that “hurt people, hurt people”. Think about it for a moment. Those people are obviously hurting on the inside if they see your success though mean-spirited eyes. Today I want to help you deal with the haters.

Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent

If someone says something mean to you – maybe it’s an anonymous troll on the internet or it can be a close loved one – I want you to just ignore it. I know that sounds easier than it actually is, but there is little point in putting your energy into something negative. No good will come of it for you. If you engage in their bitterness, suddenly you are speaking their language which is full of negativity and hate. Why bring that into your life? You are focusing on being a better person – becoming consumed by the hate they spew does not help your cause one bit.

If it’s an internet troll just block them ASAP. Don’t engage!!! That’s what they want – that’s what they crave! They wouldn’t spend their time trolling people if they were continually ignored. They would just give up. So ignore them!

If it’s a close loved one – that is more difficult. But you can still deal with it, without it impacting on your mental state. When they say something negative to you, just smile (as much as it kills you inside!) and say “I appreciate that’s your opinion, but I’m happy with how I’m living my life”. And leave the situation. Whether it’s walking away or putting down the phone – you need to get out of there. I know this will be difficult but if you engage in an argument with them – nothing good comes from it.

So today’s task is to identify “trolls” in your life and start preparing yourself for how you will interact with them when the trolling starts.

Day 32 – #50DaysMotivation

We have all been guilty of making a promise to someone , or maybe even to ourselves and then not following through.

We can usually come up with a list of reasons why we couldn’t make good on our promise. But at the end of the day that list is worthless. You gave your word that you were going to do something and then you went back on it.

My mantra when dealing with other people is to “under promise but over deliver”. When you can go above and beyond for other people they will truly appreciate it and will remember you. But if you promise the earth, moon and starts and come up short they are going to have a completely different view of you. When you under-promise you have that leeway that if something else comes up in your life that you don’t have to let that person down. By under-promising you should still be able to meet your commitment.

Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do, long after the mood you said it in has left you

When promising myself things, it can become a little more difficult. It’s so easy to blow ourselves off. If we break a promise to ourselves, it doesn’t usually affect other people. So it goes unnoticed.

But your consciousness notices it. It hears that you don’t really value yourself to not follow through with a commitment. That you are not important enough. Make it a goal that you are going to follow through with personal commitments. Because if you continually send the message to yourself that you are not important, soon you’ll find that can’t you find the motivation to change your life and habits because your brain will send you signals “well you tried before and failed – you’re a failure”. The more commitments that you end up not completing for yourself the stronger this signal will be.

So from now on when you make a commitment either to yourself or someone else – be true to your word! It could have a greater impact than you realise.

Day 31 – #50DaysMotivation

Sometimes when you are working towards a goal you can become a little frustrated or downhearted. Maybe things aren’t going the way you planned? Maybe progress is slower than you thought it would be? Maybe you are questioning if this goal is even the thing you really want?

When you are filled with what I call ‘crisis in confidence’, I want you to go for a walk. Just a plain simple stroll so your mind can look at these questions and think clearly. When we are hunched over our laptops or phones – planning our lives – it can be difficult to really see where we are headed. We are constantly going from notification, to email, to text message, to errand and can’t really see the big picture.

All great achievements require time

When I go for a walk, I find I have the freedom to think clearly. I don’t pound the pavement, I go for a leisurely stroll. You don’t want your mind concentrating on the exercise of walking, you want it to concentrate on what thoughts are swirling in your mind. Being outside has this amazing way of letting you connect the thoughts in your mind with ease rather than trying to do it at a keyboard.

When you go for a walk with the purpose of thinking over these worries – don’t bring music or a friend. Just walk with your thoughts. You’ll find as you take step after step that your mind will begin to unfurl it’s thoughts and help you find the answers to your worries. If you can walk somewhere with great scenic beauty – great! But even if you just go for a walk around where you live, you’ll find that just being out, alone with your thoughts will help you see things clearer.

So next time you feel completely caught up with your worries about your goal – go for a walk!
